2.5 K fun run for ALS
to About
About me
My name is Terra Glancy. I’m a Junior at Springfield High School in Springfield, Ohio.
On August 22, 2017, my grandmother, Gail Glancy, passed away after a long battle with ALS.
I’m working with Health Professions Affinity Community (HPAC), a program sponsored by Dayton Children's Hospital, Northeast Ohio Medical University and AmeriCorps. HPAC helps high school students identify a health disparity and create a project that has an impact on the health disparity and community.
In memory of my grandmother, my project is to raise awareness for ALS by hosting a community fun run on March 14, 2020 from noon to 3 pm. I hope you will join me!

What is ALS?
ALS is a malignant disease that attacks your motor-neurons. It takes away your ways of life, taking away the ability to walk, dress, write, speak, swallow, and breathe and shortening the lifespan. How fast and in what order this occurs is very different to each person it varies and is all different. While the average survival time is 3 years, about twenty percent of people with ALS live five years, 10 percent will survive ten years and five percent will live 20 years or more. There is no cure for ALS.
